A load of boring shit

Just finished listening to the Harry Potter audios books for the first time. It’s taken me over a year, but it has definitely been worth it and Stephen Fry definitely adds something new to the experience of the stories and I would highly recommend listening to them all to any Harry Potter fan. Absolutely superb. And thank-you to J.K Rowling for my childhood.

Clinging on; just.

Just how much longer can he survive?! The net is definitely closing in around him. Surely now, his resignation is inevitable.

The Internet: A World Wide Web of lies.

While the internet can be a fantastic resource for information, it does concern me the amount of absolute fabrication which washes around purporting to be fact, when to be say it lightly is complete bullshit.

I won’t go into particular details about one case or the other, but it does seem to be getting worse and worse as the internet becomes bigger and bigger and we become more and more engaged. And the thing that makes it worse is that in this day and age there is no need to instantly believe anything, as verification or even falsification is only a few clicks away. Have we become that lazy? Probably not, I suspect that people have always just believed many things, but the internet does seem to aid in the speed of its spread.

Now don’t get me wrong, I would never ever want censoring of the internet and don’t misunderstand this post as a call for that or some sort of Chinese style filter.

However, if I may say so, people’s ability to believe absolute bullshit without question, particularly when it suits their agenda never ceases to amaze me.

What I can’t wait for. Such a good few months coming up.

Conservative arrogance

I’m really get fed up of the Tory rhetoric of becoming ‘more conservative’, and how if it wasn’t for those pesky Lib Dems they could do as they wish.

They act as if the Lib Dems were some optional add-on to the government that was negotiated out of need, rather than want.

No, Tories… you did not win the election, the reason you can’t do whatever you want is because you have no electoral mandate to do it, and the sooner that sinks in the better because it is VERY straight forward. You are by no means born to rule(as Simon Hughes said aptly about the attitude of some tories), and the sooner you realise that the coalition is a necessity of your failure to win a general election against one of the most unpopular governments of all time, the better.

amazingatheist:

Am I to understand that Jack Harkness, my favorite character from Doctor Who, is the central character of Torchwood. Do I understand this correctly? In America, the only time you see a non-heterosexual male in media he’s the sassy best friend in a shitty chick flick. But across the pond, you…

That’s Hunt gone then. Somewhere, Vince Cable is very smug.Edit: 21st May 2012And well it seems to be that somehow Hunt clung on… but for how long I do not know. It seems to me that his tactics are nothing more than a delaying tactic in the hope that the problem will disappear and Cameron seems happy to go along with this as it takes the shine off him. However, if I have learnt one thing from this scandal, it is that it is not going to go away. It will drag on and on and on and on and on…
